PREKO TO ZMAN ON DUGI OTOK

6 am start as we have to get the early ferry to Zadar and then another one to Dugi Otok. Great sunrise over Zadar. As we leave though it starts to rain! We get on board the Jadrolinja ferry and on one side there's sunshine, and on the other dark threatening clouds. The mountains behind Zadar look horrendously stormy. We have a coffee in Zadar and then get the D&G line boat to Dugi Otok. It's actually quite cold. After an hour and a half we arrive at Sali in sunshine and we are warm again. We cycle into the Telascica National Park, paying our 25 Kn entry fee and swoop down to the beautiful bays. We cycle up to a viewpoint which is seriously uphill - down to 3.5 mph at times! We are rewarded with spectacular views across to the Kornati islands, the steep cliffs and the salt lake. We then cycle down to the salt lake, and I get another puncture on the way - though fairly easy to mend. It is very hot though so I'm sweating a lot! We have a post puncture pivo at a little bar before the path that leads to the salt lake.We have our lunch by the shores of the lake, including pink jewel like seeds from a pomegranate I bought at Sali and then swim and relax. We walk up to the precipitous cliff for some spectacular views. After a while we pedal back up the steep road with olive and fig trees on both sides and make our way to Zman where our apartment overlooks the harbour. Another very full and varied day with stunning scenery. We eat pizza at the little restaurant where I originally asked for directions to the apartment. Our accomodation for the next couple of days doesn't have wifi so we may not be able to update the Blog but don't worry, we'll be back!
