Bells at 6 and after a doze I decide to have an early morning swim. Lovely clean water with the sun glinting. After breakfast on our terrace in the sunshine we decide to cycle to the beach via the little church we can see on the hill ahead of us, and which is lit up at night. We buy green figs and apples from the little market and pedal off, and it's quite a climb. 10% gradient is marked. Lovely views from the top towards the hazy kornati islands and Murter and Bettina on the other side. We cycle down through narrow streets and then on towards Slanica and through the camp site, full of A, D, CZ, PL, SLO. We must be the only English here. The water is very calm and turquoise over the sand and we make the most of it before it gets too busy. A hectic day ensues: reading, dozing, swimming, eating our picnic, having a pivo (Osjuko this time) then a bit more reading, before heading back at about 5. I find I have flat front tyre but have fortunately brought a spare so replace the inner quite easily. Back via another beach and up a steep hill before getting back into Murter and we book a restaurant called - Tic Tac which we've read about. I shall write about that a bit later...... so we cycled off with our bike lights on and sat by the water. We had sea urchins, oysters and sea-eggs ( not sure what they were), carpaccio of tuna, octopus and amberjack and then baked John Dory - or as they call it St Peter's fish. An amazing meal - our most expensive so far!
